Personal Illustration Projects

If I break out the pencils and pens, it is usually for a visual layout or a custom typeface. Aside from that, I do like to use art to give back. The majority of the art I do will end up in donation auctions or be used as gifts to friends. I have done everything from tiny gift box embellishments to 22-foot wide murals. Drawing was my first passion, and I will do it to some capacity in everyday life, just not as focused unless there is something really driving me to do so.

Rooster - Mixed Media on Canvas 36” x 18”. A donation auction piece. I do not remember the exact foundation this benefitted, but it was focused on a supporting a Filipino cause. Roosters being a part of filipino culture, I thought it would be interesting to do an art piece with the animal in a dynamic pose.

The Usual Suspects - Mixed Media on Canvas 48” x 18”. A donation auction piece for Player 2. Player 2 is a foundation that buys video gaming consoles and games for children in hospitals. I took one my favorite gaming franchises - Metal Gear Solid - and drew each of the villains and stuck them in a police line up like the movie The Usual Suspects. Each character was first drawn, then inked, then scanned and positioned digitally, printed on canvas, and then inked again after printing. This piece was a true labor of love.

Bboy Samurais - Mixed Media on Canvas 38” x 14”. This was a personal piece for fun. I was reading a book about Japanese wood block prints and was intrigued by the discipline and intricacies of the art form. I have a passion for dance, and I just felt it would be a fun piece to put together.

Skate deck - Illustration sublimated print. This was a unique gift for my cousin who is an avid skater and very much into skate culture. He has a passion for cars, sneakers, and art in general, so I put together a piece that contained those elements.
